First-Year Applicants

All students who graduated from high school (GED or equivalent) and are enrolling in college for the first time at the undergraduate level are considered first-time students. Students who are entering UNC with college credits earned before graduating from high school are also considered first-time students.

Transfer & Second Bachelors Applicants

All students who have completed college-level coursework, including technical, military or vocational courses, after high school graduation (GED or equivalent) are considered transfer students.

Submitting Application Materials

All materials intended for your admissions application should be sent directly to the Office of Admissions or otherwise uploaded as available through your Admissions Portal. For more detailed information, review the application requirements based on your intended pathway or educational goals. All degree-seeking students will be able to and view a personalized checklist upon application submission.

Applying for Financial Aid

Most UNC students receive financial aid to reduce costs. To receive maximum consideration for need-based financial aid it’s important to apply for admission early, and submit the FAFSA or CASFA before the June 1 priority deadline (December 15 for spring starts).
