As I review our recent accomplishments and write this end-of-semester message, I have been reflecting on my first month here last fall.

As finals wrap up and a restful winter break is on the horizon, I find myself reflecting on how grateful I am for our Bears.

The Black Student Union organized a peaceful assembly to denounce racism and white supremacy, both of which have no place on our campus.

As we get closer to the end of the fall semester, I am excited to update the campus community on the work to set a new vision for UNC.

In front of the Making Higher Education Attainable Interim Study Committee, Vice President of Student Affairs Katrina Rodriguez and I co-presented at the Capitol last Tuesday.

One of the earliest themes to emerge when I arrived as UNC’s new president was a genuine desire for direction.

It is nice to have a full complement of staff, faculty and students back on campus as the beginning of the fall semester officially gets underway for what promises to be an exciting academic year.
