We鈥檙e especially honored to have Bj Stone 鈥�72, M.A. 鈥�80, Ed.D. 鈥�02 and Don Stone 鈥�72 as our co-chairs for this year鈥檚 walk. For over 30 years, the Stones have been unwavering champions for UNC Athletics, and you鈥檝e likely seen them walking for years as part of the 鈥淏ear Heiny鈥檚鈥� women鈥檚 walk team.

Bj is a three-time alumna whose passion for women鈥檚 sports is deeply personal. She was a 鈥減om-pom girl鈥�, both in high school and at UNC, when that role was often the closest women could get to athletics. She later earned her doctorate from UNC and remains deeply connected to the university. Today, she serves on the volleyball committee and continues to be a dedicated advocate for female student-athletes.

Don came to UNC from a small, rural community and quickly fell in love with Greeley. A former UNC men’s basketball student-athlete from 1968鈥�71, Don has remained actively involved in UNC Athletics for more than 30 years and continues to champion women鈥檚 sports, reflecting his deep commitment to expanding opportunities for female student-athletes at UNC.
