ReadSpeaker

ReadSpeaker is a text-to-speech tool that reads digital text aloud. It can support you in following along with course materials, studying more efficiently, and accessing content in a way that works best for you. All current students, staff, and faculty have access to ReadSpeaker as members of the University.

Web Version

  • Select the “Sign in with Office 365” button.
  • Sign in using a “@bears.unco.edu” or “@unco.edu” email address.

    • Browser Extension

    1. Log in to the ReadSpeaker Web Portal.

    2. Click the three vertical dots in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

    3. Select Web Reading.

    4. Choose Computer or Mobile, depending on your device.

    5. Select the web browser you would like to use.

    6. Install the ReadSpeaker extension from your browser鈥檚 web store.

      • The extension will appear in your browser鈥檚 Extensions menu. For easy access, you can also pin the extension here.

    7. When you are ready to read, select the ReadSpeaker extension.

    8. Highlight the text you would like read aloud and select Play.

    Canvas Version

    How to Use ReadSpeaker on Canvas:

    1. Search for the ReadSpeaker logo or a “listen” button. (Usually on the bottom left of the page or next to the title of the page content.)
    2. Click the “Listen” or the play button.
      • To change your reading settings, select the 3 horizontal bars next to the “Listen” button.
