I was educated as a 鈥渇our field鈥 anthropologist.聽 I came to UNC in 1970 and served the discipline of anthropology here for forty-two years, achieving Full Professor in 1992.聽 My primary focus during my career was on teaching. I strived to always offer high quality instruction in the curriculum I taught. Student evaluations regularly reported that I was knowledgeable, fair, and fun. What more could I have asked for? 聽聽As a generalist, I promoted interdisciplinary education as member of the Individualized Education Faculty and as a member of the Interdisciplinary and Environmental Studies Committees. In the early 鈥80鈥檚 I led the department in creating an interdisciplinary major in anthropology that served our students for many years. Together with colleagues in Sociology and Chemistry, I was instrumental in the early development of the current Forensic Science program. 聽Over my career I served the department, college, and university as department chair, faculty senator, and faculty representative on the Board of Trustees as well as participating in many task forces, and committees.
