Parents and visitors can connect to the internet by selecting "UNC-Guest" from the Wi-Fi networks.
Welcome to UNC! Whether you’re a proud parent visiting your student or a guest exploring our beautiful campus, we’re glad to have you here. To help you stay connected during your visit, UNC offers complimentary access to the UNC-Guest wireless network. This page provides step-by-step instructions for connecting to UNC-Guest using a Windows computer, Mac computer, Android device, or Apple device. No matter what device you’re using, we鈥檝e made it easy for you to get online and enjoy your time on campus.
Windows Computer
Note: Before starting to connect, close all Internet Browsers, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, etc.
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the taskbar on the bottom-right.
- Click UNC-Guest in the list of wireless networks, then click Connect.
- The default browser should open and direct you to the UNC Guest Portal page.
- Read through UNC鈥檚 Computing Acceptable Use Procedure and Click Accept.
- You will see a Success Page. Open a new tab in any browser and navigate to any site to ensure you are connected. You may need to wait 5 -10 seconds for the system to recognize your device as registered.
Mac Computer
Note: Before starting to connect, close all Internet Browsers, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, etc.
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the top-right menu bar.
- Click UNC-Guest in the list of wireless networks.
- The default browser should open and direct you to the UNC Guest Portal page.
- Read through UNC鈥檚 Computing Acceptable Use Procedure and Click Accept.
- You will see a Success Page. Open a new tab in any browser and navigate to any site to ensure you are connected. You may need to wait 5 -10 seconds for the system to recognize your device as registered.
Android Device
Note: Before starting to connect, close all Internet Browsers, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, etc.
- Open Settings 鈥� Wi鈥怓i
- Click 鲍狈颁鈥怗耻别蝉迟 in the list of wireless networks
- Click on the notification, 鈥�Sign into Wi-Fi Network鈥� This will open a browser to direct you to the Guest Portal.
- Read through UNC鈥檚 Computing Acceptable Use Procedure and Click Accept.
- You will see a Success Page. Open a new tab in any browser and navigate to any site to ensure you are connected. You may need to wait 5 -10 seconds for the system to recognize your device as registered.
Apple Device
Note: Before starting to connect, close all Internet Browsers, including Firefox, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari, etc.
- Open Settings 鈥� Wi鈥怓i
- Click the information icon next to聽鲍狈颁鈥怗耻别蝉迟 in the list of wireless networks
- Ensure the Private Address field is in the Off position, then click Join This Network
- Read through UNC鈥檚 Computing Acceptable Use Procedure and Click Accept.
- You will see a Success Page. Open a new tab in any browser and navigate to any site to ensure you are connected. You may need to wait 5 -10 seconds for the system to recognize your device as registered.
