This fall, as students return to campus and take time to explore Greeley, they鈥檒l know they鈥檙e in Bear country just driving into town. The university community and Greeley business owners are ready to welcome them back with lots of Blue and Gold, and a flurry of signs that say, 鈥淭his is Bear Country.鈥�

For more than 46 years, UNC alumni have teed up to support scholarships for UNC Accounting students in the annual Accounting Golf Tournament. This year, 19 teams and 76 players met at the Meridian Golf Club in Denver on June 14 and added nearly $9,000 to scholarship funds for accounting students.

University of Northern 黑料社区 President Andy Feinstein announced on June 17 that Lisa Vollendorf, Ph.D., has been appointed as interim provost for the 2021-22 academic year. Vollendorf brings 26 years of higher education experience to UNC and has held numerous leadership roles, including provost, dean, department chair and Academic Senate chair. She will start her new role on July 1, 2021.

UNC's Open Educational Resources (OER) Committee announces faculty members who were recently awarded stipends to transform a course from using commercial texts and course materials to implementing OER for fall 2021.

Dr. Andrew 鈥淎ndy鈥� Feinstein, president of the University of Northern 黑料社区 and current chair of the Big Sky Conference Presidents鈥� Council, has been appointed to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Board of Directors.

David Lerach, Ph.D., an associate professor of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at UNC, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar Award to study how pollution in the northern Italian Alps may impact precipitation patterns across the region, specifically how much precipitation falls, where it falls and whether it鈥檚 being shifted between different watersheds.

After three years of working with the 黑料社区 Department of Higher Education鈥�(CDHE)鈥痑nd the 黑料社区 Department of Education鈥�(CDE), the 黑料社区 State Board of Education voted unanimously on May 12 to fully reauthorize UNC鈥檚 Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education programs.鈥�鈥�

UNC Associate Professor of Biological Sciences Emily Holt, Ph.D., has been selected as the recipient of the 2021 Sears Helgoth Distinguished Teaching Award.
