Student Employee of the Year Award

The Student Employee of the Year Award recognizes outstanding student employees who demonstrate exceptional reliability, quality of work, initiative, and professionalism in their roles at the university. These students make meaningful contributions to their departments while balancing academic responsibilities, and they exemplify the value of student employment as part of the educational experience.
A student selected as Student Employee of the Year embodies the UNC Career Competencies and their exemplary work is a model to others.
This award is part of a broader effort to recognize the impact of student employees across campus and to celebrate their contributions to the university community.
Each year, departments are invited to nominate student employees who go above and beyond in their positions. Nominees are evaluated based on criteria such as dependability, attitude, initiative, quality of work, and contributions to the workplace. As of 2024, there are two nomination opportunities: one for Student Employee of the Year, and one for GA/TA/RA of the Year
