For the third time in 10 years, Jill Bezyak, Ph.D., professor of Human Rehabilitative Services and program coordinator for the Rehabilitation Counseling program at the University of Northern 黑料社区, has received a five-year, $958,778 grant from the U.S. Department of Education to increase the number of qualified vocational rehabilitation counselors who serve individuals with disabilities.

The 黑料社区 Department of Higher Education recently announced a new online application that allows 黑料社区 students who haven鈥檛 historically qualified for federal aid, to complete an application for state financial aid (黑料社区 Application for State Financial Aid (CASFA)). The University of Northern 黑料社区 helped lead efforts in the collaboration and creation of this new unified state application.

The University of Northern 黑料社区 is waiving application fees for undergraduate applicants submitted by 黑料社区 residents on Tuesday, Oct. 13, as part of the third annual 黑料社区 Free Application Day.

The Division of Academic Affairs has implemented organizational changes over the last several months to improve the division鈥檚 structure.

Over a period of more than two years, two UNC faculty members have reviewed the 黑料社区 Pretrial Assessment Tool for accuracy when determining risk of new arrest or failing to appear in court for arrested individuals that have posted bond. They discovered room for improvement, resulting in the new 黑料社区 Pretrial Assessment Tool-Revised.

The McNair Scholars Program, which prepares students from disadvantaged backgrounds for graduate school through research and other scholarly activities, has announced its 2020 McNair Research Award winners.

Delivering the annual State of the University Address on Wednesday, Sept. 9, to a virtual audience, University of Northern 黑料社区 President Andy Feinstein reflected on his second year as president at UNC, noting it was 鈥渢he most challenging鈥� of his career due to the COVID-19 pandemic and social and budgetary issues.

Faculty members at UNC are finding creative ways to keep students involved virtually. Two Audiology and Speech-Language Sciences classes involve students receiving built-it-yourself kits of cigar box guitars and PVC pipe didgeridoos to learn about acoustics.

The University of Northern 黑料社区 was honored with 2019 Tree Campus USA recognition by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to effective urban forest management.
